Though the quality and the outcome of the films released in 2008 have
higher scope than the usual
bollywood movies, "Jodhaa Akbar" is still a question mark out to the
industry. The Hrithik Roshan
and Aishwarya starrer started in a very slow pick up in the market, now
it is running to gain the
losses it has made out to the producer and the film maker.
GURU: -
It is an interesting fact to note that Aishwarya Rai was a part of
"Guru",a Mani Ratnam movie which
made a higher profit for the film maker during the same period last
year. This movie was the super
hit during the first quarter of the last year. Though it was only 40%
collections in the morning
shows, it slowly picked up the market and started to run efficiently.
JODAA AKBAR: -
The film was believed to be a success and a mega hit as it not only
runs in cities and multiplexes
but also runs in small towns successfully. Money is continuously
pouring to the team from the overseas
sector. The film's ban in Madhya Pradesh was removed which will make
the film reach greater hights.
Even before the release of the movie, it reached the news headlines due
to the controversy in the
content of the movie.
It is so stunning to hear a trade observer say that there are theatre
owners in small towns who make
small hand posters to make the film successful. After a long time the
bollywood is successful in connecting
to the audiences from all classes.
In small sectors the collections were only ranging from 20 to 30
percent but the response from the
audience made it possible to improve the income of the film. In Britain
the money has been pouring
from the overseas market as well from the movie.
Before "Jodaa Akbar" hit the screens there was a drop down in the
business. Eventhough the film had
the best performances and good content, audience were not in the
position to goto the movie due to the
cold weather conditions as reported by an observer. "Super star" and
"Mithya" got a mind blowing reviews
from the media.
Following the path of "Om shanti om", both the films tried to hit the
world of film making with greater
expectations. But "super star" tried to put in more content to the
audience which made it a tough job
to swallow.
Though the film had a good opening it could not withstand for the
expectations of the audience due to
the insufficient stars in the movie. The film got better reports and
made good collections in the multiplexes
which granted a hope for the movies with toughly solid content.
RAMA RAMA KYA HAI DRAMAAA: -
This was another which tried to strike out "Jodaa Akbar" but could not
withstand
though it hit small screens and ran well on small towns.
AJAY DEVGAN'S MOVIES: -
"Halla Bol" and "Sunday" were the two movies released in the early
january which are Ajay Devgan's
attempt to hit the market. "Halla Bol" had good heart in the content
but could not make a strike to the
audience.Similarly "Sunday" also failed to satisfy the audience
although it had many actors with best
performances and comic sense. Ajay can be shortly seen in the next
movie "U Me Aur Hum".
BOMBAY TO BANGKOK: -
This was the worst flop of the year.Nagesh Kukonoor who was known for
making small busget movies failed this
time to hit the minds of the audiences.
MY NAME IS ANTHONY GONSALVES: -
E. Niwas, the director was expected to hit the screens but he too
failed along side with other co-directors.
TAARE ZAMEEN PAR and RETURN OF HANUMAN: -
The film focussed fully on the children continues to run with good
profit even in the examination season.
RACE: -
The biggest release was this movie which had the stars Saif Ali Khan,
Akshaye Khanna and Bobby Deol
along with the hottest actresses Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu and Sameera
Reddy.
