Those dimple cheeks and that infectious smile are the trade mark of Juhi Chawla. It is not surprising to see this Punjabi girl becoming Miss India in 1984, when she was just 17 year old. Juhi chawla even won Best Costume Award at the Miss Universe contest in the same year. She was born on November 13, 1967 to Dr. S. Chawla, a punjabi and Mona, a Gujarati. She studied at Sydenham College, Mumbai. We are not sure how Chawla, Juhi love for fashion shows started. But within two years after winning Miss India crown, she was offered roles in Bollywood movies. And who do not wish to be on the silver screen. Juhi Chawla is no exception and soon Chawla, Juhi love for acting career made her accept the first film role in 1986.

Her debut film was Sultanat in 1986 and as a new comer, she did perform her role well enough to get recognized. Her very second film, ‘Premaloka’, surprisingly was in Kannada. Juhi Chawla was the female lead opposite one of the popular Kannada Actor, Ravi Chandran. This movie was a super hit in Karnataka. Probably this success and Chawla, Juhi love for Kannada audience, saw her acting in another Kannada film Shanti Kranti in 1991.

Her 1988 movie, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, was the biggest hit ever. She played the female lead role opposite much established actor, Amir Khan, with ease. This Chawla, Juhi love story with Aamir Khan looked refreshing.

However, she won Filmfare Best Actress Award for Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke in 1994 and Bollywood Movie Award - Most Sensational Actress for her role in movie Duplicate, five yeas later. She had to wait another 5 years, till 2004, to get Star Screen Award Best Supporting Actress for 3 Deewarein.

Chawla, Juhi love for producing movies became reality after she started Dreamz Unlimited, a production company along with Bollywood king Shah Rukh Khan and popular Director Aziz Mirza. While all three have vast experience in the film industry, they failed produce hits in their first two attempts. Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Asoka were flops. Their third movie Chalte Chalte, did well for them.

Like all popular movie personalities, Juhi chawla too was dragged into many controversies. Chawla, Juhi love for being bold and straightforward landed her in an unpleasant situation, for her refusal to act in a movie directed by Mahesh Majrekar. Though her onscreen chemistry with Aamir was great fun, their off screen relationship went sour due to some remark made by Aamir Khan which was not received well by Juhi. In a recent incident, the media wrote all sorts of articles when she campaigned for Gujarat Chief Minister’s election in Gujarat. Media complained that she is canvassing for the Chief Minister to help her husband’s finances.

Juhi Chawla got married to Jai Mehta, an industrialist. The couple has two children- daughter Jhanvi and son Arjun. Chawla, Juhi love for family life is well known as she completely avoided the film career to take care of the kids. Now that, she can spare some time for her self, she seems to have started practicing classical music.
