Her journey began with being Miss India, then Miss World and finally Miss successful Bollywood actress. A true home-loving cancerian Priyanka was born on the 18th of July 1982 in Jamshedpur, India. Her father Capt. Dr. Ashok Chopra and mother Dr. Madhu Chopra were part of a large joint family that doted on the extremely beautiful child Priyanka and called her Mimi and at times Sunshine.

Since her father was from the army background, Priyanka traveled a lot during her childhood days and changed schools. She started her schooling in India, at the La Martiniere Girls' College, Lucknow and then moved on to the US for further studies. During her schooling years, Priyanka was growing up to be a melodious and talented singer. Her first and a very crucial achievements in the US was being selected for the National opus Honour choir. She returned to India after completing her 0th grade and resumed schooling at the Army Public School in Bareilly. Being an odd one out in a family of intellectuals, but a rather special one at that, Priyanka joined Jai Hind college at Mumbai only to leave it for the glamour world.

In 2000, Priyanka participated in the Femina Miss India contest and became Miss India World, that is the first runner up. The title meant rigorous preparation for the coveted Miss World title. Her hard work, confidence, and inherent beauty saw her become the fifth Indian to win the Miss World title. The back door of the Miss World contest opened into the world of acting.

Priyanka started her acting career in 2002 with Thamizhan a Tamil movie. Her first Hindi movie, The Hero: Love Story of Spy opposite Sunny Deol released in the year 2003. The movie made the audience sit up and notice this vivacious beauty as an actress. Her next movie Andaz was a superhit and also won her the Filmfare award for best debut. Andaz was followed by a few forgettable movies that led to Mujhse Shaadi Karogi in 2004. The audience loved Priyanka in a comic touch in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. The comedy was followed by her first negative role in Aitraaz. Priyanka won the Filmfare award for the best villain for this superhit movie.

After a buzzing 2004, 2005 was a dry spell in Priyanka’s career where despite good performances her movies did not do very well at the box office. However, in 2006 she came back with aplomb in Don – The Chase Begins Again and Krrish. Her first movie this year was Salaam-e-Ishq – A Tribute To Love.
